If it feels like the right fir, we can move forward together. And if not, we’re always happy to help guide you toward other options, because what matters most is that you find support that truly works for you.
Your first session is a chance to begin building a real connection and getting a clear understanding of what’s brining you in. We’ll talk about what’s going on, what feels stuck or overwhelming, and what you’re hoping will change. You can share as much or as little as you feel ready for. There is no pressure to have everything figured out.
Your therapist will also help guide the conversation so we can start identifying patterns, understanding what’s underneath the surface, and getting a sense of what direction would be most helpful for you moving forward. Just as important, this is your opportunity to get a feel for the space and the relationship. feeling comfortable, understood, and supported matters.
From there, we begin building a plan that feels realistic, personal, and aligned with what you actually need.
Yes. What you share in therapy is confidential and protected under HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act). This means your personal information, session content, and records are not shared with anyone without your written permission. There are a few important exceptions. If there is an immediate risk of harm to yourself or someone else, or in situations involving abuse or neglect, therapists are legally and ethically required to take steps to ensure safety. This may involve contacting appropriate supports or services. Outside of those situations, your privacy is respected and protected. Creating a space where you feel safe to speak openly is a core part of the work we do.
We do not work directly with insurance companies. However, many clients choose to use their out-of-network benefits. In these cases, clients pay us directly and then submit their invoices to their insurance company for possible reimbursement. Depending on your plan, you may receive partial or full reimbursement, or it may apply toward your deductible. Invoices are always available to view and print from our Client Portal, making the process simple if you wish to submit them.
There are a few intentional reasons we operate this way. Privacy: Insurance companies often require access to certain clinical information and notes. They mandate that clients be given a mental health diagnosis. By not working directly with insurance, your information remains private and contained within your care. If a diagnosis is discussed, it stays between us unless you request it in writing. Flexibility: Insurance companies can place limits on the number of sessions, what issues are covered, and the type of treatment they approve. Without those restrictions, your care is based on your needs — not insurance guidelines. Our goal is to create a space that feels personal, flexible, and fully focused on what will actually support your growth.
